Homemade Chipotle BBQ Sauce


Use this BBQ Sauce for Dave’s Pulled Pork Recipe



white onion

1 liter

bottle ketchup

1 tablespoon


1 liter

pineapple juice

1 cup

brown sugar

1 tablespoon


1 can

smoked chipotle peppers (small can usually found in Mexican food aisle)

6 drops

tabasco sauce



First dice up the onion and cook on low in your pot with about 3 or 4 tbsp butter, cook for 1/2 hr till onions are very soft. Add the chipotle peppers about 5 min into this process and stir them in thoroughly with the onion.   After the 1/2 hr add the brown sugar first, stir it in, then the ketchup. Add all the other ingredients slowly, stiriing them in as you go.   This sauce can cook on a very low heat for up to 24 hrs if you like, but 4 hrs at the least.   If the sauce starts to thicken too much simply add water till it is just the right consistency, not too runny, not clumpy.   Blend or use a hand held food processor to make it a sauce.
